Laminated Glass

Laminated Glass – Superior Safety and Strength

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass, made by assembling two or more sheets of glass with one or more sheets of PVB (polyvinyl butyrate) or EVA, which provides high impact resistance. In the case of a strong shock, it cracks, but does not break completely, because the interlayer keeps the glass pieces together.

The advantages of laminated glass

Improved safety – in the event of an impact, the fragments remain stuck to the foil, preventing injuries.

✔ Protection against burglary – can delay break-in attempts, providing an additional level of security depending on the execution structure of the glass.

✔ Superior sound insulation – reduces the transmission of external noise, ensuring a quiet environment.

✔ UV protection – filters a large part of ultraviolet rays, preventing the discoloration of furniture and interior finishes.

✔ Versatility – can be used in combination with other types of glass (clear, colored, reflective, Low-E, ornament, etc.).

Applications of laminated glass

  • Residential and commercial windows and doors – provides additional security and protection against accidental breakage.
  • Shop windows, banks and company headquarters – used to prevent burglary.
  • Glass railings and balustrades – combines safety with a modern and elegant design.
  • Skylights and interior partitions – provides increased protection and sound insulation.
  • Bulletproof and explosion-proof glazing – used in areas that require maximum protection.

Laminated glass coding

The thickness of laminated glass is indicated by a coding system, which includes the thickness of the glass sheets and the number of layers of 0.38 mm film. For example:

  • 33.1 – two sheets of 3 mm glass, joined by a single layer of foil.
  • 44.2 – two sheets of 4 mm glass, joined by two layers of foil.

Laminated glass is an ideal choice for projects that require safety, strength and superior sound insulation. Due to its properties, this type of glass is widely used in residential, commercial and industrial constructions, offering protection and added architectural elegance.
